Strategies to confront adversity and triumph
Disaster and difficult times are a fact of life. Whether it’s a global pandemic, a natural disaster, or an economic downturn (or all three!), chances are high that your staffing firm will experience more unexpected upheavals in the future beyond the one we are all facing right now.
At the beginning of 2020, hardly anyone could have predicted the impact of COVID-19 on businesses and families. Practically overnight, the US economy ground to a halt as businesses scrambled to adapt to closures, layoffs, and remote working. The staffing industry quickly adapted to many of these changes, but depending on your area of expertise, your needs may vary. You may be slowly coming back from heavy losses, or be busier than ever trying to fill orders for essential businesses.
Either way, it is good practice to have a “playbook” to reference in difficult times. While the specifics change, best practices for dealing with difficulty boil down to: take care of your people, take care of your business.
THE 4 "PILLARS" OF THE SURVIVAL PLAYBOOK
- Playing Defense - Preparing for financial uncertainty
- Playing Offense – Capitalizing on opportunities
- The Rulebook - Government programs available during COVID-19
- Team First - Taking care of your people during a crisis
